Privacy Policy
This explains what Rice Directory collects when you use rice.directory, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
What we collect
Nothing, if you only browse. You do not need an account to search or read listings, and we do not ask you to create one.
When you do interact with the site, we collect:
- Business submissions. If you add a business, we store what you enter — name, category, description, phone number, address and map coordinates. This is published as a directory listing, so treat it as public.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we keep the message and your contact details so we can reply.
- Usage analytics. Pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, browser and device type. This is aggregate traffic data; we do not use it to identify individuals.
Cookies and third parties
The site loads Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure traffic. Some pages remember a display preference in a cookie on your own device.
Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap, and some styling and script files are loaded from public CDNs. Those providers see your IP address as a normal consequence of your browser requesting a file from them. They are not given anything else by us.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal data.
- We do not run advertising networks that track you across sites.
- We do not ask for payment details on this site.
How long we keep things
Published listings stay until the business or an owner asks for removal. Correspondence is kept as long as it is useful for support. Analytics data is retained in aggregate.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or delete a listing, ask what we hold about you, or ask us to stop contacting you. Send us an enquiry from the contact page, and include the address of the listing concerned.
You can also block cookies in your browser. The directory works fine without them.
Listings about businesses
Most listings are compiled from publicly available information about businesses, not about private individuals. If a listing contains personal information you want removed, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page.
